Do you like to micro manage your team? 
Do you like to micro manage your team?

Or do you want them to be independent and productive?

You start your day by telling each person in your team what they are doing today, and hour later they are calling you to get solutions to problems they find – which you solve. And so the day continues with your team calling you with problems for you to solve until they finish and you have time to start your own work.

The other extreme is you operate a system that schedules work in advance, your team take the projects from the system and start working. When they have a problem, they solve it themselves. When they do call you, it really is a problem that only you can solve – but they are few.

Which team would you prefer to have, one you micro manage or one that is independent and productive? In our coaching program we help people achieve the second team that is independent and productive, we do this by focusing on three areas:

✅ Finding good staff – you can’t have a great team if you are hiring people that don’t fit with your culture. We have all had that “rotten apple” in our team that makes life harder for all of us. And when they leave everything works better. The solution starts with finding and hiring good staff.

✅ Training your team to work independently, be problem solvers and productive without your constant attention – yes it is possible. Often it’s how you respond to their problems that makes all the difference – do you solve their problems or train them to solve them?

✅ Engagement of your team. If you don’t design the culture you want you will have the culture your most dominate staff want – which might be destructive.  During our program we help you define the culture you want and how to engineer your team to work by this culture.

Why do we focus on building an engaged and productive team? Because it has financial impact. Let me explain.

To find and recruit a new staff person costs between 50% and 150% of their annual salary depending upon how long it takes to find the right person and then get them up to speed. So, if you could half your turn over from 2 people a year to 1 person then you could save over $50,000. If your turn over is more then the saving could be considerable.

Did you know that if your staff are not engaged with what you are doing then they could be costing up to $17,000 a year through reduced productivity and increased sick leave.

I don’t know about you but I don’t want to give away that much money, so lets make your team productive and engaged.
